The story is set in motion when Willow's children find a baby girl floating in a river. Not knowing who the baby belonged to, Willow Ufgood decides to make the baby part of his family. But soon, their village is attacked by creatures supposedly looking for the baby. After these events and discussion with the village elders, Willow is tasked with returning the baby to her rightful guardian. Accordingly, Willow sets out on a journey along with Brownies, Franjean and Rool. On their way, they meet a thief Madmartigan, who is locked in a cage. They set him free and continue on their journey. Soon they learn from a fairy named Cherlindrea that the baby girl is destined to bring down the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda and it was her creatures that were sent to kill the baby; that the baby's destiny will be fulfilled if she is returned to the sorceress Fin Raziel. And so, Willow and his unusual company of friends head to Fin Raziel while being pursued by Queen Bavmorda's General, Kael, and the Queen's daughter Sorsha.
'Willow''s huge budget and special effects brought in a significant amount of moviegoers, earning it more than 137 million dollars worldwide. It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and won the Saturn Award for Best Costumes.
